Manoj Tiwari to reshuffle Delhi’s BJP unit team, indisciplined office-bearers to be shown the door

first_imgFaced with “indiscipline” and an adverse report by central observers, Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari is set to reshuffle his team of office bearers. At least a dozen office bearers, including the three general secretaries, may find their way out of Tiwari’s team as a result of the rejig that is likely to take place in a couple of weeks, sources said. While the general secretaries have been facing charges of indiscipline and financial irregularities, the other leaders will have to vacate the post after their appointment on key positions in the three municipal corporations. Apart from the general secretaries, three of the Delhi BJP vice presidents were elected to civic bodies. One of them – Kamljeet Sehrawat – has taken over as the mayor of South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) and hence, she will be dropped from the team of office bearers. As per the BJP party’s constitution, one leader cannot be allowed to hold two positions. Two other vice-presidents – Sikha Rai (SDMC councillor) and Jai Prakash (elected to North Delhi Municipal Corporation) were promised appointment as leaders of the House in the two civic bodies. But while their appointments have been put on hold on “disciplinary grounds”, sources said that they will also be removed from Tiwari’s team. Tiwari had recently hinted at the reshuffle after some leaders showed their allegiance to Union sports minister Vijay Goel by attending a councillors’ felicitation ceremony that was organised by him. Tiwari had asked leaders not to attend the function.advertisementAccording to sources, a faction in the party is also demanding that state office bearers, whose spouses have won the election to the corporations, should also be dropped. However, a policy decision in this regard is yet to be taken.A senior party functionary said that all state office bearers who have been elected to the corporations have been told that they will be removed from the organisational structure.Sources said three general secretaries – Kuljeet Chahal, Ravinder Gupta and Rajesh Bhatia – may be also replaced by new faces.”Questions have been raised over functioning of the three general secretaries and their conduct during the MCD polls were found to be unfit. In wake of the BJP’s central observers’ report, they may be removed from the team,” a senior BJP leader said.It may be noted that taking serious view of the report, the party has also sought response from the general secretaries.Mail Today had reported that the BJP observers had indicted the state unit of misconduct despite the party’s historic victory in MCD elections. The report pointed out that the state unit general secretaries indulged in self-glorification by sidelining seniors and ignoring the party’s interest.”There is a strong buzz that these leaders also replaced in the reshuffle which is likely to take place within a fortnight,” a senior party leader said.He added that Preety Agarwal, party state unit secretary and the North Delhi Municipal Corporation mayor; Vipin Bihari, president of the BJP’s Poorvanchal cell, and who was elected deputy mayor of the East Delhi Municipal Corporation; and Poonam Parasar Jha, president of the women’s wing of the party, may also be replaced in the reshuffle.ALSO READ |  Woes for Delhi BJP refuse to die: Manoj Tiwari invites media for big meet, Piyush Goel asks them to leaveALSO READ |  Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari’s residence ransacked, 2 arrestedlast_img
